Need help...where to buy re-manufactured powerhead?

There's a good chance I'll be going this route.
I see many listed for sale on ebay but I'm wondering what source you would recommend?
I'm in Southern California so a source local or semi-local would be ideal but I'm not opposed to ordering and shipping for the right deal.

There have been some changes in the industry since Bombardier purchased the assets of Evinrude/Johnson in 2001. 7000 workers were laid off, and Johnson/Evinrude disappeared . There have been significant technology changes after your engine was built.

It is possible for your engine to be rebuilt. But it may be be cost prohibitive and the end result not worth the effort. It just doesn't seem that many 2 stroke motors reconditioned will ever last as long as the ending did originally.

You might see if you can find another 1997 Johnson 150 hp on EbayMotors or Craigslist.

Don't know them, but they have a high positive score, and it seems that they help out if something goes wrong /disappointed customer.
I wouldn't be afraid of buying from them.

Interesting that the eBay ad shows the seller has 10 available. They must do this as an occupation. They offer a warranty and they invite you to call and ask about it. Ans as Gus said, they have an almost flawless score. Sounds good to me.

Thats the exact same motor iBoats offers from OBR in Semmes ,AL . Thats where iBoats and Marine Parts get them from as they do no remanufacturing in their shop. I suggest you order from Riverside as they where the OMC/BRP reman supplier for warranty powerheads. Call and ask for Josh and price should be around $3100 + freight....
