Just picked up a 1967 Johnson electric shift today. I thought it was a manual shift, but after a 2 hour drive...I was taking the motor home regardless.
Bought it for $175 (included controls and ignition console).
PO was selling it because his kid burnt out the starter and he didn't want to be bothered with trying to locate another starter. (They had thrown the starter in the trash, so I went dumpster diving and found it.
I opened the starter and found that one of the brushes is disconnected(will need to solder it). For the time being I threw in the starter from my other 1967 Johnson 80hp (manual shift)
PO states that he's confident that the motor should start up...since it was run this summer. I'm skeptical, but I've got to give it a try before I start taking parts from it for my other motor.
I don't have a manual yet, so I need some help identifying the wires in the pic and how to connect them the console. The motor is in gear, so I also need to know how to get it in neutral(electric shift)
At minimum I just need to know how to hook enough wires to try and start it.
