I bought a 4 wire universal Vehicle Kit from auto zone. I hooked it up to my jeep but i don't know where the tail light cable goes? My tail light has 2 cables 1 for the brake when the lights are on and the other one for when you hit the brakes. Where does the cable go? If i connect the to either one, the other wont work.

This vehicle is equipped with directional's in the rear right ? You will need a converter box, about $10.
"Unit Allows Amber Turn Signals (5 Wire Systems) On Tow Vehicle To Operate Standard 4 Wire Trailer Systems. Made Of Black Abs Plastic. Made To Be Wired Directly Into Trailer Wire Harness."

What do you mean by directional's? All i know is there are 2 cables for the Tail Light. 1 for is for when you turn the lights on the tail lights turn on and other one is for when you brake..

There should be a wire for running lights, a wire for break/turn lights. Runninglights are brown on your wiring kit, the brakes are the same as the turn signals. If turn and break are different lights that u need a converter http://www.etrailer.com/pc-VWH~118175.htm where u bought your kit from should have one too.

On your vehicle it should go, Green is right turn/brake, yellow is left turn/brake, brown is running lights, white is chassis ground. Some times there is an extra break light for center lights.

Or you can get one of these, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/91-9...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

it includes the converter box, cherokees have seperate turn/break lights thats why one works and not the other, teh converter converts the signal to 1 wire for the left turn/brake and right turn/brake

you can not hardwire a jeep u must have the converter box with the plugs that mate up with the plugs, but if you get the converter box for hardwire the red wire that goes to the brake u must ground it out, then the brakelite will work,to find the pluge look under the plastic behind the rear wheels oat the back corners of your jeep if its a jeep yj or a jeep like it

Re: Need Help Wiring My 92' Jeep Cherokee

I just bought the Hoppy kit for my 93 and it's nice because the trailer harness is replaceable. The draw-tite box that I am replacing did not have that feature. After spending ten trillion hours trying to figure out why the left signal lamp didn't work on one of my trailer, I discovered that at some point over the last few months the converter box blew. That was the last thing I thought to check, after basically rewiring the trailer twice-over.
