Wait a minute...i take that back......when you mean? being able to feel the notches you mean feeling them from underneath the flywheel as it sits on the engine right???

if that IS the case? then mine should be mounted right. The only thing that confuses me is that on my flywheel, the arrow that marks the start point for magnet location faces right or counter-clockwise instead of clockwise.

Re: Need help with 225 Johnson 1993 no spark

My powerpack ground wire IS connected. I only see two yellow wires (one with a gray stripe) coming from the stator to the rectifier and then a bigger gage red wire coming from the rectifier to the battery.

Right now, with the key ON engine OFF I am showing 12 volts from the rectifier thru the yellow wires back to the stator which supports the statement that the rectifier is bad.

Question? I ran the engine after I installed the new powerpack and it ran good for a couple of minutes. This was BEFORE i realized I may have a bad rectifier and discovered the loose magnets. Any chance I blew the new powerpack right away as a result of this?

The flywheel is now fixed, i disconnected the rectifier and still no spark!

What was the voltage from the charge coils??? you realy need to check this. I would leave the yellow wires off, tape the ends, and make sure they don`t get caught in flywheel. Stay with the ignition system.. If you have everything back togather, check the voltage to the ignition coils. Engine at cranking rpms 100 volts or higher.

Please let us know how things are going on the troubleshooting, and listen to Clanton, I've met him and he's a straight up guy...I just wished he was closer to me so I could get him to troubleshoot my 225.

After replacing power packs, stator, timing base, flywheel magnets, I finally have spark, but it is weak and I cant get it to run for more than 1/2 an hour..
