Need help with 69-76 Johnson/Evinrude 18-25 HP Slow Speed Adjustment Linkage Rod

My father-in-law picked up an old Lund last year that we've been getting ready for the water. It is equipped with a 1973 Johnson 25 HP tiller (model#25R73A) but it is missing the Slow Speed Adjustment Linkage Rod :facepalm:. We fashioned a temporary replacement out of a piece of coat-hanger :lol: but would like to "upgrade" to the real thing.

I've found new replacements online for $40 plus S&H. Ouch.

So here's what I'm wondering -

* Anybody got a spare they can get rid of? Long shot I know, but doesn't hurt to ask!
* I found a place through the Salvage list that says they have a box full of them but would need to know the length to find the right one for me sooooo.. I was hoping someone on here might have the same setup and could put the tape measure to it for me.

is this what you need measured? its on a 1974 25452m

Put both adjustments in a horizontal position and measure the distance between where the rod goes. That's the length you need.

boobie - I thought of that too & can definitely do that if needed but (to risk sounding like a lazy-***) the boat is about 20 miles away at the FIL's house being stored for the winter. I can run out there and grab the measurement if need be but was hoping to find what I need and get it ordered so we're ready when the ice thaws.

the overall length of the one in the pic is 3.423 inches...give or take a few thou. lol but do cross reference to make sure its the same part # from the 1974 25 hp as shown in the pic.
