and the connecter from the fuel tank to the motor is the right type ( some bar with another hole with a pin on it) but it doesnt click in and hold...
Does the fuel hose fit properly? It should "hold" well, or it won't work. When you squeeze the primer bulb, you can feel the fuel inside. Squeezing it a few times should make the bulb go firm. The tank connectors are usually the "push-in & twist" style, with the motor connector having the push-on style with a spring loaded locking tab.

Yes, they tank has the quick connect push and twist, and the motor has a push on style with the spring loaded tab, but the tab doesnt lock... when i prime the bulp it gets hard and i can feel the fuel going into the motor.... but i can pull the fuel line off really easily ...

So maybe it isnt getting fuel, but what about the fuel that I primed it with, wouldnt it TRY to kick over with that??

Im going to pull the carbs today and clean em, do all the other maintainance stuff and see where we are at then... I have a whole 12 hours of sunlight today.

OK... its running... Kind of.

The choke hose from the choke solonoid was MELTED... i replaced it and it fired right up... then died...

I couldnt get her to idle smoothly, it was like every time i would start her, by the time i waled to the back of the boat the motor would stall. When it was isling high, it seemed like alot of exhaust was coming out by the prop... is this normal?

Also, i didnt see any stream of water coming from the telltale, acctually from what it looked like, it was "spitting" small amount of water from it..

Im going to try rinning her in a garbage can and see if that cures it.

OK, i ran it with a garbage can filled with water....

Seems it runs fine when i have it on choke.... but the second i take choke off and lower the idle, it cant make it more than 10 seconds without stalling... also, after i kept trying it for a few minutes, i looked at the water in the pail and it was a cloudy color with black spots all over the top...

I just want this thing to work!!! GRRRR... maybe ill just bring it to a marina..

After sitting for 5 years, it may be have carb issues. Water pump impeller, lower end oil, a set of plugs, and a carb clean-out....I'd bet it'll be good as new.

Do you think your grandfather would have used gas stabilizer in the fuel system & fogged the motor...for extended storage?

It sounds like you're making some progress.... I don't think you are ready for marina service yet :)

Oh.... get your hands on a service manual. It will pay off in the long run.
