Having a problem with a boat I just had serviced...... frustrated and very pissed off.
I wanted to have my boat serviced as it was shifting rough and sometimes did not want to go into gear without stalling. I tried raising the idle a bit as it was low but that did not help. I am not a tech so I called around to my local shops but they are all overwheled with work and could not look at it for weeks.
I found a mobile guy who assured me he could fix it, as he swore it was the carb. After reading on here I thought othersie and advised the tech to replace the lower shift cable, along with the shift interruptor on the motor and some other wear items like the gimble bearing, new gear oil and bellows. $900 later I get it home and the button on the shifter/throttle was sticking. Mobile repair guy is being a complete scumbag pulling no shows 3 times and now just not returning my calls so I had to see if I could fix the button myself. I'd love to post his info so others stay away from him.
I took my shifter/controls off the other day to have a better look at it as I wanted to see if I could lube it. It's a few years old and thought it may need some grease or a new spring behind it. I now can't get the cables back on. They don't seem to work properly as one will work but the other can't mount to the gear on the back without casuing a problem. What the heck? Did I do something wrong by removing the cables from the shifter, it was a simple pin holding them in place, figured I could lube it and then just put the pins back in, not the case???
Can anyone show me a link to a diagram of the shifter and how the cables go back on???
Let me know if more info is needed, I tried to cover everything.
