Depends on initial quality of boat, previous owners upkeep of boat, and whether the boat was stored indoors out of the weather.I've seen boats that were manufactured 10+ years ago and still look brand new.

CC and WA boats are great for ocean fishing. Only fair for skiing. Some of the gals hate 'em.

The "best" will depend in part on just what size. For example in a 20' saltwater boat the most expensive (and arguably "best") would be Boston Whaler, Grady-White, and SeaCraft. These will be priced a BUNCH higher than Cobia or Wellcraft. Here is a thread with lots of new boat prices to give you a better idea of how prices are all over the map - Thoughts & Prices from the New Orleans Boat Show

Take your significant other with you when you go looking at boats.

When I'm shopping it is usually boats around 4-6 years old that I look for. But everybody has a different comfort level on how old a boat they will consider.

Kelly
