Hi everyone, I am new to the forums and new to boating. I just bought a 14 foot aluminum semi v fishing boat and need some help on id'ing the motor on it.

The motor hasn't been run in almost a year and has a broken shear pin. Over the years someone has painted the cover on it and I have no clue what brand it is. I do know that it is 7.5 HP. The only info I found was on a tag. The tag had 3 lines of info on it. The top line was 7138583 The middle line said Tecumseh, and the last line had T-640-o7A.

I want to know as much about it as I can find. How old is it? Were they good motors? Etc.

I appreciate any help I could get, and thank you in advance.

Probably one of the many Eska - built motors. Their biggest customer was Sears, but there were others. As well as motors sold under thier own brand name, Eska.

They bought their powerheads from Tecumseh, maker of lawn mower engines. That is the Tecumseh tag that you are looking at. I'll let somebody else pass judgement on it.

Ok Thanks. There are no other markings on it as far as I can tell. You wouldn't know what size shear pin it would need would you?

The boat I got also came with another motor as well A sea King 15. The guy said it works but he prefered the smaller motor. I think I will try to get it running and see what's going on with it. Are the sea kings a decent motor? Again, thanks for any help.
