So I bought a 1973 fabuglas boat the other day. The guy had taken off the power trim cause trim motor had went bad...it was a arco 6228 motor that had been taken off a prestolite hya-5004.. The motor was in pieces and im not real sure if it was ever really on the motor... Anyhow I researched the net and come to conclusion that it wasnt original motor bu was a replacement, found one on ebay pretty cheap... It got delivered yesterday and I just cant figure this out.. It is basically the same motor as the broken one, tried to put it on the trim, but it would go completely on.. I examined closer and it looks like my trim requires a motor with a shaft that looks like a flat center spline that inserts into it, both of my 6228 motors are plain round shaft.. I look online for 6228 and it shows that they have the spline on them... Am I missing something?
. Did I even get the right motor?
Sorry post so long... Thanks guys

Also I meant that the 6228 motors I got wont go completely in the trim...

Tried to figure out how to edit my op but not sure how to. But I will post pics in the morning... The trim looks like it needs a keyway shaft "or whatever they are called"

That was just a tilt unit I believe and no trim.-----Shaft should look like a screwdriver blade for the drive end.-----Aftermarket stuff hits again ?

Im trying to upload pics but it says files too big...

I looked internet for the right motor and it said it is a Sierra 18-6816, and the I checked the arco cross reference chart and it shows that the arco 6228 will work... Problem is that I got 2 right now and both has straight round shaft, but pics on the internet of the arco 6228 shows it having the correct shaft(flathead)... Is there different models of a arco 6228 or do I have 2 identical factory mistakes?
. Can some point to me a motor from db electrical that will work with my hya-5004 tilt?
