Hey guys!!
I have a 1994 19ft hydra sports flats boat with a 2003 mercury 150 carb motor. The boat is heavy and has many ad ons such as polling platform, front fishing platform, trolling motor, power pole and 4 livewells, 50 gallon gas tank, and i usually 3 people on the boat. Im trying to figure out which stiletto advantage prop to get its either the 17 p or the 15p (need bow lift thats why I have a stilletto) my original prop was a vengeance 17P and i got 5600 rpm @WOT (rpm the merc recommends) I switched to a 21p stilletto and only turned 4900 rpms @WOT then I bought a 19p stiletto and im only running about 5000 rpms @WOT. Im thinking 15p might put the rpms close to where they should be. Also ive tried raising and lower the motor on the transom. I have the cav plate 1 inch above the bottom of the hull (seems to work the best for this style boat). I have noticed with the vengeance prop the motor is a lot quieter through all of the rpm range and the stilletto. I understand that the motor is probably lugging do to not reaching full rpms. Back to the pitch what do you guys think? THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!

The RPMs you got when switching to the 21P and then the 19P props do not correlate. 5600 RPM with the 17P should have been 4800 with the 21P and 5200 with the 19P props. Since your numbers were different than what is usually seen, it is tricky to give advice. I think you need the 17P Stilletto. See if you can make a deal to try it out. If it is too tall, trade it for the 15P.

Best I can do....

You went from a "standard" type prop to a more aggressive type prop; that's why your results are all over the place.

Mercury motors run best with Mercury props.

Not being a Stilletto fan, I'll give you a recommendation on a Mercury prop if interested.

I was looking at the mercury tempest props for bow lift but there a bit pricey. Maybe I can find one used

Yes; really; concerning the prop that is.

I don't know enough about Nike shoes to comment on that subject.

Gee, I ran a Rapture on my speedboat. That was a real good prop. I now run a Turning Point Hustler. That is a good one too.

Re: Need help with prop pitch (stiletto)

Actually I test last Sat Stiletto 13x21 on my OB Mariner 115HP 2Cycle, I found that this prop lift the bow at once, just me in the boat and takes too long to top speed no matter how I trim the OB takes tool loong to plane, also I found that the engines makes a heavy effort to turn this prop. I will go again for a 2 test. Anyway I like 13x19 and 13x17 raptute the most. The worst thing is that my tacho is dead so I cant talk about rpms

Here is my new babe

I ran a Stilletto back around 1999, I switched to a RAKER, both were good props. I switched to an Enertia about 9 years ago. Good bow lift, a solid grip on the water, and a rocket on acceleration

The Stiletto is drilled. You could make the holes a bit bigger, 1/32 to 1/16 of an inch.

Ok what would I gain from making the hole bigger?

A little less load on the engine as it's accelerating
