Picked this up today for next to nothing. Tried finding the year and hp rating, but couldn't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. s/n reads 15020-07549.

Im not a fan of the location of the fuel pump. Is the pulse line plumbed into the intake manifold or the bypass cover?

Why would it be scary ?? Just because it sits on the exhaust cover ?? LOL.

Re: Need help with s/n.

I was more thinking about the length of the pulse line if he is getting it from the bypass cover. You want that pulse line short as possible, but perhaps the intake manifold has been modified to create the pulse for the pump.

Re: Need help with s/n.

Marine engine is wrong. Most definitely NOT a 7.5hp motor.

The '57 7.5hp evinrude is model 7522 and 7523 for long shaft.

The gearcase is another sure tell that it is not a 7.5hp motor.

Tiller is not original '57 equipment though.

Thanks everyone. My back is certainly agreeing with 18hp. Lol

Can I get some pictures of where to move the fuel pump to? Thanks for pointing that out.

first pic is a 10 hp, getting its pulse from the bypass cover, second pic is a 5.5hp, which gets its pulse from the intake manifold( after mods), and the third pic is a 7.5 hp, getting its pulse from the bypass cover. the most important thing , as mentioned, is to keep the pulse line as short as possible, and still be able to close the cowl. ( i use 1/4" plastic chemical feed line for the pulse)

Re: Need help with s/n.

Thanks for the photos. On another note, the lower seal kit for the 57's seem to be a little tricky. Is it true with my s/n I would go with the 58 lower seal kit?
