Now we know you have an OMC model not mercruiser yellow arrow to large starter lug, orange arrow to small solenoid lug closest to motor, red arrow cable to battery Blue Arrows are your trim/tilt solenoids
~~No ,the starter solenoid only works the starter, the 2 solenoids work the tilt motor. your drive is called a 400 or 800 stringer series drive. The trim motor inside the boat is coupled to a worn gear shaft that raises the motor to trailer position. No hyd. involved, strictly a gear drive operation.
that's how I hooked up it the way you said.. the thick red gage cable is coming from the bavk of the top solenoid and the little gage wire I spliced for now to the little nut of the starter and the starter didnt even make a peep. is there a fuse some where or somethinf there's nothing coming from starter
I noticed if I connect the yellowish cable with the cable next to it and run cable to the little lug to starter then try to connect battery it would want to turn on but by doing that sparks from battery go every where I think am missing something..
yea I no but its bavk up now... I don't no what combinations to do am lost... it spins when I touch ground to positive terminal make sure starters fine then when it don't spin I can hear the sprocket come out but then it won't spin.
the large nut gets the red cable , the small lug marked "s" gets the yellow/red stripe wire or the color wire marked with the orange arrow in the other pic.
Forgot it was a ford, you have a hi-torq starter, the top large lug gets the battery cable, the small lug to the left gets the wire from your old solenoid (orange arrow)
