Im new to outboard motors and this is the first one I have ever used one. While I was out in the water with my aluminum boat, I started the motor. It ran for about 1 minute and there was a lot of white smoke comming out. After that the motor just stoped working. I tried coutless times to start start it again but it would not run. This is a 1976 ted williams 7hp motor. Any ideas of what could be the problem? Thanks.

That is an Eska built motor using a Tecumseh power head.My guess is that it flooded for some reason."white smoke" Did it have that delightful oily smell?
Have a look at the plug.It will probably appear shiny black.Try a new plug.
It may fire right up but may go through the same routine.
Flooding usually is some sort of carb malfunction.Stuck/inoperative float, stuck choke. If it uses a fuel pump(remote tank) the pump diaphram may be leaking into the carb/motor.
