Recently bought a used pontoon, and upon the 2nd time I used it, I hit a stump and broke off a piece of the propeller....

ESSENTIAL DATA REQUIRED
When posting a question about propellers, you cannot get a reasonable answer unless you provide the following information in your post: Items 1-4 are essential for meaningful response to most questions.
1) Performance issue you are trying to correct. Ran fine I guess, I am a novice and really dont know alot about boating[/U]
2) Current prop manufacturer, model, aluminum or stainless as a minimum. not sure of manufacturer came with boat...# on prop 77340A45P13 and it is aluminum
3) Current prop diameter and pitch (required). hoping that # above will help someone answer that for me
4) Wide open throttle RPM and speed with an average load (very helpful) Not really sure sorry
5) Engine/drive make, model, year, and HP Mercury 50hp 4stroke 2007
6) Boat make model, year, length and weight 2008 Bentley 200 fish, 20ft

like I previously stated I am new to boating and when I enter the above # I cant find a match....and guess I am looking for an aluminum prop, was told that since I really am not going anywhere in a hurry in a pontoon that it would be cheaper to have to replace an aluminum prop than a lower unit....thank you for any help that anyone is able to offer

Re: need help

take your prop to a marina, prop shop or other boat store and they should be able to match you up. Sometimes the prop can be repaired at the prop shop.
Consider having an extra prop on board if this is a frequent problem in your area.

Yeh,You can have the prop repaired. If your in a hurry you can get a new prop and keep the repaired one for a backup. Pitch is 13,the critical number. The shop can tell you the diameter or you can measure from
the center to the tip of a blade and double it.The diameter isn't a primary consideration
as long as the prop is intended for your motor. For your application I would lean toward a larger diameter if you have a choice.

Re: need help

The prop is a Mercury prop it is 14 dia. X 13 pitch.

You can get a very affordable replacement right here on iboats;
Part# 1411-138-13 Price: $97.95

Based on the info you provided your motor is a "Big Foot", which means the gearcase is larger than most 50hp 4-strokes to handle the weight of your pontoon. Once you get your new prop, you should take note of how many RPM you are achieving at Wide Open Throttle. That motor should turn up to around 6000 RPM
