Re: need help

Might give you a place to start, any coild on here look like the ones you've got on your motor?

http://stores.ebay.com/sanfords-goodies/_i.html?_fsub=10987623

Also check SeaWayMarine.com

The coils in that listing says does not replace the 'orange' style coils, do you have the orange coils?

Also do you have a model or serial number off the motor?

Re: need help

Hmm everything is 1968 and up, unless you have a part number. Then you can hunt down 1950's-2011 parts.

Can you see any part numbers or any numbers on the coils?

Also whats the model and serial #, so I can do some diggin'?

Re: need help

Are you sure its a 1965 and a 5hp?

Maxrules and marine engine is sayin...

Model HP Year
9001 16.2 1934

Although I just found a post by someone else that have a 1956 seaking 5hp so give me more time to straighten this out. And he had the same model number GG9001C.

Re: need help

I think its a 1956 Year motor. Pretty sure.

Goto
http://www.maxrules.com/modelindex.html

Click link below Yamaha model year guide that says

VARIOUS BRAND REALLY OLD MOTORS MODEL & YEAR LOOKUP
(MICROSOFT EXCEL Format)

After you open that up , use the search feature in whatever program you used to open that file up.

Then type in GG-9001C, bam 1956 , TWIN , 5HP.

The hunt is still on for the coils ....

Re: need help

Check this forum thread out while I dig around, has some numbers with places in MI but if they dont have it they will know of a place to get it.

http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/forum/showthread.php?t=186930

Seems the OP in the thread has the same problem as you finding a exact coil. Check it out and mabey call the number(s) in the AM and shoot them your model number/serial.

I will still dig in the mean time.
