I have a basstracker 1710 limited edition with a johnson gt150 no jackplate not sure how high the motor is compared to pad but it has a 26 pitch raker prop. According to the tach im only getting 4100 RPM at wot full trim. Boat blows no roost and blows out in turns. I have to choke it to get it to plane off and it goes a distance. According to my mechanic he says I have to do this because the prop gets so much bite the motor wont take fuel. I know i should be turning about 55-5700 RPM but have no idea what size prop to try. My brother has a 23 4-blade shooter i am going to try. Any suggestions on prop pitch and engine height in relation to pad.

Re: need help?????

Blowing out in turns gets worse as you raise the jackplate. You will need to find where you are comfortable. Normally I wouldn't go above 2 inches above pad...measuring to cav plate. 4100 RPM sounds like you have WAY TOO MUCH much pitch for the hp/weight combination.

Re: need help?????

Is the bass tracker rated for 150?
Near as I can tell your prop size is way high. you need to make up 1600 rpm.
Thats about an 8" drop you will gain "about" 200 rpm per inch. Hole shot will be like a rocket,it will stay on plane easier and my vent less.Don't make any other changes till you test the prop.
If you want changes to be accurate with our sggestions stick with very similar props.
Others may suggest different brands or models based on their experiences/ knowledge.
These may have merit but keep in mind brand, model and material changes create other variables.

Changed prop to a 25 trophy plus prop spins bad it seems to not be enough prop- although it planes off good it lost a few mph on top
