your boat is a 1985. have you checked the transom and stringers for rot? Fiberglass boats are designed to last 15 years. while many will last a bit longer, your boat is 41 years old in a month or two

Wellcraft threw the boats together in the 1980's with some questionable fiberglass practices.

regarding the thru-hull, if the bedding sealant is still good, then that wont be a leak path.

I assume this is a new to you boat? if so, did you do all the maintenance that the prior owner didnt do?

like bellows, u-joints, alignment, etc? those items can cause a leak.

Impeller, drive service, fluids change? those items can leave you stranded.

hello, yeah i did a resto on it. all solid. Was just worried about the transducer, it has a long round rod that goes in it with seals.

Apparently, he did not.
That long round rod is part of the depth sounder transducer. There should be a cable coming out of the rod which runs or used to run to the depth sounder display head. If the cable has been cut off, then leave the transducer alone until you decide to replace the whole system. You won't know if the seal around the transducer is leaking until you put the boat in the water.

OK thank you. I put a new transducer system on the back of the boat with the wheel kind.

you are talking apples and oranges, I believe. The speed transducer is what you added to the back of the boat ... that is for you speedometer. The picture you showed us is for the depth finder (sonar device that tells you how deep the water is and if there is any structure/fish between the bottom of the boat and the water bed). These are two entirely different things.

It will probably leak if it isn't already, why take the gamble ? You said you upgraded all the structure, so you must be OK with dong fiberglass work. So why not remove it and repair the hole so you will have no worries ?
