I have a 225 1998 and i have just stripped the engine down to have it rebored but my problem is that i cannot get the engine block to part off from the lower section , i have tried everything bar the hammer and chisel , i have even used a portapower and it wont even look at moving , i have put on the lifting eye on top and tried lifting it off, i have took all the bolts out is there anything i'm missing out on , i have the johnson manual and it makes it look so simple but i have spent the last two days at this one .. steve

Re: need help!!!

hey , i just got it off , it didnt say to remove the 6 long bolts from the lower section took them out and it parted ok , so its off to the machine shop now to have it machined out , the guy i'm taking it too has just put in a new machine , it uses lazer beams to aline the block and he has quoted me $100 dollars to do it says he can machine it in under 30mins so i can wait and have the block home with me which is good , will keep you all posted on how it progresses, steve

Re: need help!!!

If this is an automotive shop be careful. Ask what he uses for a finished bore size. That will be down to 1/10,000". IE -- 3.**** inches.

Re: need help!!!

Ask him what he's going to use for a finished bore size. It should be 3.7055".
