Need Ignition Coils for 1954 Mercury Mark 7 / 7.5 HP

Does anyone know where I can locate 2 new coils (Part# 398-173) at a reasonable price for my 1954 Mercury Mark 7 Ser# 759821.? Would also like to replace the 2 plug wires/2 points/2 condensors etc. so I can have piece of mind once I start to putting her back together that the ignition system has been rebuilt.
Can the old coils be refurbished ???
I removed the flywheel to inspect and clean and found that both coils are serverely cracked and chunks of the black plastic will crumble off.. so I think replacement is in order. This is a restoration project..so any help or advice you can give me is and will be greatly appreciated..I'm a newbie at this so bare with me.

Coils cannot be resealed - the internal insulation breaks down once exposed to the air.

Make sure you get the correct coils - there were two ignition systems used on Mercs of that era. Yours SHOULD have the R.E. Phelon (REPCO) magneto, but 60+ years of service doesn't mean it still does. It may have the Bendix-Scintilla, for which coils are more expensive and new points are not available...

Thanks..for the info. Yes Chinewalker I do have the Phelon type, this is the name stamped on the flywheel. So far Oldmercs has the lowest price for these coils at 62.00 ea. I put a call in today to see if they had stock and I got voice mail and asked for a call back but 'No Cigar'..I'm just waitin for the phone to ring. I did find another source but they want 85.00 each. So I guess not matter how I slice it I will be blowing up a 200.00 bill :facepalm: to replace the ignition parts (Coils, Points, Condensers, Plug Wires)...oh well its only money and it floats.. But once Im done she will PURRR like a kitten. Thanks Again to you and Laddies for the response's

There's a guy on the AOMCI.org site's webvertiser that has the Phelon coils. Might be less than you've had quoted... Goes by Old Outboard Jim...
