Re: need info badly

those are the only numbers that i cud find. my wife and i spent 3 hours today lookin for the model and serial number. we had no luck at all. we found a number on the clamp bracket underneath where it pivots not to sure about it tho. its either 310201 or 31c2c1. theres no tags what so ever on the motor, cudnt even find a number on the plug on top of the head. Im not a 100% positive its a 6hp thats just what i was told from the guy i bought it from.

look for a small aluminum welch plug about the size of a quarter on the powerhead. This should have the model and serial numbers on it.

The powerhead is not just the head; it includes the cylinder and crankcase area.

See the round socket where the serial number plug used to be on this motor? That is what you are looking for, but hopefully with the plug still in. The actual location varies with the motor, but it is there somewhere.

They don't just fall out. If the numbers tag is missing off the stern bracket and the welsh plug is missing off the powerhead, it is pretty well a good assumption that it is a stolen motor. Thieves know all about the numbers locations. Unless they are a newbe in the profession.
