need info on tilt motor

my buddy's tilt motor went out and i'm trying to help him find one. the problem is that the boats in storage and he doesn't know what kind of outdrive is on his boat. the engine's a 3.8 omc. if anyone could, would you please tell me the brands of outdrives that mount on that engine? i'll do the research after i know where to start. i'm an outboard guy myself. thanks

Well, just being stupid I'd say if he's hooked up to an OMC motor then it just might be - an OMC drive.
Would definately need more info as to what brand of boat, what year, model.

No, you have to tell us what outdrive is there. Too many people have installed OMC engines onto Mercruisers and Volvo outdrives.
If you don't know, post some pictures.

If it is a matching set, based on the 3.8 l OMC I would hazard a guess at a 800 series Stringer drive.
As the smart guys before me have said, anything could have been switched so finding out for certain only makes sense.

wow gee thanks guys! thanks for repling back with bubkis info. let me remind you that this is not my boat and i'm not an expert on inboard/outboard motors, and you shouldn't reply back if you don't have valed informantion. all i asked was what outdrives mount up to a omc 3.8 and if it is in fact a omc 800 than thats all you had to say. if not than keep your comments quiet and don't worry about boosting your numbers. thanks

Then have a blast with your guessing game. The 3.8 OMC engine could be hooked up to any drive. You just never know what owners will do with old boats.

Once again, you need to find out what drive is on there, by LOOKING AT IT.
