I'm helping my Grandson rig a new 50HP two stroke on a Jonboat. We have the motor mounted and connected to a 703 side control. Everything hooked up except the battery. My question is about a square connector at the front of the motor under the cowl. I suspect that is for digital gauges, but just want to make sure before we start it up. Thank you.

Thanks for all the help. I'm sure we'll figure it out on our own.

This is why all manufactures publish a "Rigging Guide". Gauges are not required to run the engine and the only one that is engine dependent is the tachometer. Oil/overheat indicators would be part of a Yamaha tach. Start it up. Some of us are actually asleep at 4:32 am.

It worked out just fine. I just wanted to be sure that square connector wasn't something I should have hooked up, like to do with the oiling system. Turns out it was for gauges.
