Hi I have a longshaft merc 115,1971.I am in need of a gearbox.I have located a 1978 70 h.p. 3cyl long shaft with a blown powerhead. will the gearbox work.I know the 65,80,90,135,and 150 h.p. will work,but the 70h.p.?
By Gear box, do you mean the lower unit or the control box?<br /><br />The control box should fit just fine. The lower unit, I seriously doubt.<br /><br />Craig
3 cylinder 70 gearbox (lower leg, foot call it what you like) will not fit your 115. As for the other engines you listed, yes they will fit, but you may find they have different gear ratios.<br /><br />Chris............
