I need help in choosing the right boat. I've looked at 20' Glastron open bow, Reinell 22' and a 20' Tracker deck boat. Being new to boating , I have no idea how these will perform, quality of boat and reputation of company. I main use is to hang out with the kids and wife in our local lakes and enjoy a little of everything. If anyone has any opinion and suggestions , I appreciate it.

Tony

pepper66:

I don't know anything about Tracker other than it is owned by Mercury Marine.

I have a 16' Glastron and love it. The bigger boats ride even better.

Reinell is in my opinion, one of the best boats on the market. I drove the 181 (18') w/ 4.3L I/O and couldn't believe the power and speed and the way it rode. I test drove a Chris Craft 18' with the same engine and it couldn't get out of it's own way.

Good luck in your choice, hope that I helped a little. Happy boating.

Craig

Re: Need new boat advice

I believe Tracker and Nitro are made by the same manufacturer, so let me tell you about my experience. Had a Nitro bass boat for 2 months that was brand spanking new, this boat began falling apart and needless to say, I've seen boats 10yrs old that looked newer than this thing. Very cheaply made in my opinion. Maybe Tracker's different, but I get disgusted everytime I see a Nitro. Just my 2 cents.

As long as these boats have a 5L motor, any of them will perform well. All are price boats. Different buyers are willing to accept compromise in different areas in order to stay with a low price. At this price level my druthers would be a Rinker 192 Captiva. Which is not as stylish. But lots of Rinker buyers end up sticking with Rinker when they trade up.

You did ask for opinions, and that's all this is.

Kelly Cook

A 20' open bow V-hull with a V-8 I/O would be just the ticket for you. Too bad you live so far south...my buddy has one for sale. It's very nice, but for the life of me right now I can't remember what make it is. I know it's 20' open bow with MerCruiser 5.7 (350 c.i.) Maybe three years old? Anyway, it's in Portland, Or... If you might be interested, drop me an email and I'll hook you guys up.

Good luck in whatever you buy!

Walt

salingwa@hotmail.com

The boat I mentioned above is a 1996 Maxum 20' open bow, 350 (5.7) Chev/MerCruiser, closed cooling, upgraded upholstery & carpeting, "King" galvanized tandem axle trailer. Low hours...

$12,000

FYI

Walt
