get the model number off and make sure that they still make them or have parts for them.<br /><br />problem is, a lot of the motors from the 80's they dont support anymore. i had a 1986 ish 8hp that i couldnt get a wtarepump for or anything. had something to do with the parts suppliers stop making parts.<br /><br />go to tohastus website and call the 1-800 number and ask them if its still supported. <br /><br />nonetheless, it will run like a smooth japanese machine should. smoooth and easy.<br /><br />also, go to the tohatsu forums and looks for problems with their motors. they are almost nonexistant.
