I have a 15' VIP Seasquirt CC with a 60 horse on it. I am planning on doing some pleasure cruising this weekend out to a little island. Since I am the only person in my group of friends with a boat, I have plenty of volunteers willing to "help" this weekend! I have not had the boat too long and have only put 2 people total in the boat so far (fishing). I am sure it would handle 3 and pretty confident about 4. Please set me straight in what you think would be a good limit. I have enough seating to accomidate 5 comfortably. I already tried to find out what the max capacity is that the manufacturer recommends but with no luck. HELP!!!!

Thanks all!

Guess it depends on a lot of factors, distance to the island, weather, traffic in area, your abilities. Without knowing more, probably would stick to 4 average size adults with limited amount of gear. May have to do multiple trips, but better to be on the safe side.

Start by looking at the capacity plate on the boat - it should tell you the maxiumum # of people and maximum load limit.

So how did it go? Tell us you had PFDs for everyone aboard and they were wearing them.

I hope it went well. Update us, please.

Well, if the boat had a capasity plate I would have consulted it!!!:D It is titled as a "homemade", but I know what it used to be just not the year.

Anyways, the water was rough this past Sunday when we went out so, basically, we left the marina and went about 50 yards and turned it around. On a day without 2-3 foot waves and 10-15 knot winds with gusts up to 20 knots, as per NOAA forecast, 4 people would be fine, comfortable in fact. On a calm day I would feel confident with 5-6 people in a pinch, but will not be exceeding 4 PLANNED people.

Now as far as fishing I wouldn't have more than 3 people. The reason is because of the amont of room you would have since everyone has their own gear. Fishing with myself and another there is plenty of room, myself and 2 others is a little tight, but do-able!

In fact I have a funnny story about this past weekend, look for another post titled "my day on the lake"
