We are looking at buying a 2001 Landau pontoon (3 log)with this engine. I know 2-cycle technology has come a long way, but is a 5-year old motor too old to expect the benefits of the newest techs? Also, is enough to pull two skiers?

I have a 1976 mercury inline 6 150hp. It will pull 2 skiers like nothing. I've pulled 3 tubes before and it seemed to be ok. You just need to make sure you have the right pitch of prop if your going to be doing a lot of pulling

as far a technology is concerned though, I don't know.

that motor is just getting broken in. do proper maintainance, and it will last for ever. owner of a 1971 1350 inline 6.

i own a 2005 150 xr6(carbed version) and wow is it a great engine. It has been very reliable and it has TONS of power. i can pull up 2 slalem (sp?) skiiers with no problem and i have pulled 3 tubes with 4 people on them and 6 people in the boat and it did great. Then again this is on a 1400 pound 17 foot runabout so that's expected. I know this isn't the EFI, but the engines are nearly identical with the exception of the EFI technology. Anyways, with the right prop you should be able to pull up 2 smaller sized skiiers without any major problems.
