Guys,
My new Starcraft 1800 needs a new prop as the one supplied with it is the wrong pitch.
The boat is a 2008 18' bowrider equipped with the Mercruiser 4.3 MPI 220hp alpha 1. It came with a 14 x 19P prop. The boat is supposed to top out at 4800 RPMs but I can exceed that easily and set off the over-rev alarm.
With the 14 x 19 prop the holeshot is awesome but at around 49 MPH It'll over rev if I let it. I never really tried to see just how high I can get the RPMs as I dont want to damage anything or risk warranty. This test was with four people on board, full load of fuel and the typical gear loaded on board.
I'm thinking about a Solas prop sold right here on iboats as they are really affordable and considering I boat in shallow conditions I dont want to invest in a pricey SS prop and ding it.
I'm trying to decide if I should go with a 14 1/4 x 21P or 14 1/2 23P....Thoughts?
P.S. No I cannot get selling dealer to install a correct prop. Boat as-is from broker.
