Hey guys,I screwed up big time and punctured my aluminum freezer grid ,thus creating a freon leak.I have someone who will try to recharge it after my repair.I HAVE NARROWED the repair down to 2 options.Dremmel with wire brush down to bare aluminum at puncture and put a dab of 5200 on puncture and after it cures, top with JB weld or JB weld only.I am leaning towards 5200/JB weld combo.Cant spend $800 to replace it right away.Rather repair for the rest of the season and take my time to replace in off season.Opinions are welcome but hoping someone has screwed up as royally as i have and has experience with same repair.Charlie

Can just the grid be replaced. I think the tubing is too thin for aluminum welding.

jb weld and 5200 will not work

check with your local radiator shop, they can tell you if it can be welded. most likely your into a new fridge.

Short of welding it OR cutting it and using a proper sized splice slip tube with proper sealing, I can't see anything else working. Maybe even a quality compression fitted repair, the pressures involve preclude epoxies and such fixes in my opinion... JMHO!
