Re: Need Sea king head gasket

The motor is Chrysler built.
Chrysler became Force circa 1984.My aftermarket service manual lists Chrysler
and Force 15 in 84. The Chrysler and Force motors have the same bore 2 1/4"
Sierra, Available here at iboats lists a 18-3851 for a 84-92 Force.Have you seen an actual difference in the 83 Chrysler and 84 Chrysler/Force motors? If they are indeed different numbers could be thickness, material,or different size bolt holes etc. There may be a picture here at iboats for the 18-3951.I once adapted a Hercules industrial engine exhaust manilfold gasket to marine use just by adding holes for water circulation.
While your gasket may be different it may not even need any changes.

Re: Need Sea king head gasket

thanks for the comeback Steelespike. I too noticed the gasket on iboats, but it said "no longer available or something along those lines. Dont really know a lot about the Sea Kings since this is the first Ive owned. It came on a boat I recently bought just for duck hunting. Im learning alot about them now:eek:. Like how good they run in neutral on when only one hole out of two work. I ran it when I looked at it on hose bib. Ran great, a little weak idle (which I attributed to being stored away). Bought it and put in water and ran like
#@#$%$^%/. The very first thing I learned was PULL THE PLUGS AND CHECK COMPRESSION:mad: My bad. In a hurry. But thanks for the avenues I can take here. I did get a response from Sea-way marine and Twin City that they are pretty sure they can hook me up. Gonna put the gasket on the copier and fax em a pic. Thanks again.

Useing the sierra number 18-3851 it came up and I was able to add it to my cart.
That covers 84-92 $9.00 plus shipping. Hard to believe it would be different than
an 83. You might try the Chrysler Crew
If you get desparate you can buy headgasket material and make your own.

Re: Need Sea king head gasket

Got the head gasket. Thanks a bunch for the help/info. I wonder if the impellers are the same as 84's as well. Going to see if Iboats has them as well. Found the recoil set up as a marine salvage on line. As I understand it, I wont get a "pee" stream from these motors, but need to look for more of a spray? I have ordered a book but it wont get here till 7-10 days I guess.

So the 18-3951 turn out to be tha same?
It would seem to me that especially on those overlap years
no to many changes happened. impeller 18-8903 covers Chrysler/Force
74-97
