Need some advice on 1st startup.

I just purchased a 1997 Regal Rush XR2 boat, it has not run in at least 2 years. I went online and purchased the service manual for it and have read a little about this boat. I have owned outboards before but not like this, I need to know if these boats have any common problems and what I need to check or do when I first start this thing up. Someone has wired a new ignition switch to this thing, but I have the original also. I don't know if it runs or not because I purchased it from a third party after the boat was abandoned. Thanks for any help on this issue.

On your next post, indicate what you have. The boat manufacturer doesn't tell us much at all.
