Re: Need some advice.

I have decided to get snipped. I don't know of very many people that have had this done personally. Other than one guy on the day shift that I'm pretty sure did it himself with a butter knife on his lunch break.
I feel a new signature coming on . . . :D

I'm with Mark42, although I tell everyone I had her spayed

Watch out for the infection. If you wake up in the morning with a couple of soft balls between your legs aaaaaaaaa go back to the doc.
Just bugging you. I know a few guys and they say it was no big deal.

I'm with mark and QC my wife had it done for me didn't hurt a bit.

Re: Need some advice.

Well I put up a bit of a fight at first telling her that she should go get it done. "You don't want to take a pill anymore? Fine, go get the old tubes tied and you'll never have to worry about it again." But then she got her damn sister involved and together they harled on me about how it's an outpatient procedure for me but she would have to stay the night and blah blah blah. Wouldn't you know it, her sister got her tubes tied about 2 months ago. After thinking a lot about it I decided that it would be easier for me to do it plus if something should ever happen to my wife and I. (God forebid) I don't have to worry about anybody calling me when they find out they are pregnant.

Terry, I didn't even notice that. That's it I'm not doing it until I get my rank changed.

:D Yeabutt--- What do you do if yer tubes divorce ya? :D
That little (at times) one-eyed feller hasn't left me yet, and agrees with everything I say and do ('cept how long I should drive without a rest stop, or how long I sleep).

A couple of things here since I've had mine done. I think the snip is easier (less side effects) on the man then the tubes being tied for a woman, I can't remember though if thats true now or not.

99% of the time you feel uncomfortable for a day or two with no other problems. HOWEVER you can get this wierd side effect where your sac swells up like a cantaloupe....Only know 1 guy this actually happened to though.

Now, the hardest part for me? The freakin' Dr talking to me while he's doing it like we're old friends or something! He's asking me about the weekend, the wife, the kids, job while he's tugging and pulling down there and I'm like shut up and pay attention! :D It was really bizarre....I guess I'm a no-nonsense guy so I just wanted to be in & out and get it over with. I mean, for me, having a guy working in that area, it was really bizarre having a normal conversation with someone you've only met twice. (Once for the consult and once for the procedure). I had him recommended to me by a male friend who had the procedure done.

I was going to get it done but my wife don't allow. she got her tubes tied the day after our second was born . but her reasoning behind me not gettigng it done was a comment 7 years ago that i wouldn't be able to leave any proof of an affair . She claims i was a male ho when she met me and wants to make sure i can't do it again without the chance of being caught lol.

I had that done 20 years ago and had little to no pain.We waited until our youngest was past the age of "Crib Death" possibility.

The toughest part of it all is that a "FRESH" sample is needed to test for successful results.

Ah the wife volunteered for that duty :D Wasn't bad at all.... :D

JDP - I just noticed that your rank is listed as "Seaman"... After the procedure will it change to "Seamanless"??? Artist formerly known as Seaman??? It's Seaman like it isn't working anymore???

(My immaturity keeps me young)

Can't help but show my nerdiness here....You still have the "seaman", just not the sperm :D

Flood the turpedo tubes but forget to load the torpedos! :D

I'm hoping that I don't have to go through all that. I think I would feel very uncomfortable trying to have a conversation with some guy with a sharp knife down there. I guess I keep thinking, what if right in the middle of him cutting, he has to suddenly sneeze? I mean that could end up bad for me.. I'm sure he has done enough of these procedures that it's no big deal for him. But I would definatly prefer him to pay attention to what he is doing and not be trying to talk to me at the same time.

One more question. I have read up on this and a couple of articles say that when they clauterize (sp) the tubes you will actually see smoke coming from the area. Now I just don't know if I could handle that. Have any of you seen this for yourself?

Well anytime you cauterize something you'll have a little smoke I'm sure.

Oh something else that hasn't been mentioned....You have to shave the sac before the procedure....Do NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES use an electric razor. I repeat: DO NOT USE AN ELECTRIC RAZOR.

Re: Need some advice.

Ok I'm really starting to have second thoughts about this. There is going to be way too many sharp objects getting to close to very important parts of my body. I would never let my wife shave my face let alone the sac. Seems to me like having to shave is going to increase the pain. Everybody knows what happens whenhair starts to grow back... IT ITCHES.. Now how the heck to you scratch that without causing pain to yourself?? What about going to the bathroom afterwards. How much pain is involved in doing that? I'm going to have to rethink this whoel situation.

Re: Need some advice.

JDP,

Calm down...Seriously, its not bad at all. The "pain" is really just discomfort, for me it wasn't like getting hit in the nards at all. Just a "tight" feeling almost like a bruise. The shaving was easy after the electric razor incident that is. It itched a little but not bad, but by that time the pain from the procedure is gone.
Going to the bathroom is not an issue at all.

Then you can "brag" about being a man and having it done and freaking other people out when they talk about getting it done. :D

Seriously dude....its not bad at all. Cutting your hand or finger is worse than the pain you'll experience. The upside...weather its painful or not you can use it to milk sympathy out of your wife for a couple of days.
