Need some help from Mercruiser gearheads

A fellow boater has this situation and trying to help him out

2007 Merc 496 with Bravo 111. Can only hit 3000rpm's The engine has a miss. I notice fuel being dumped out the exhaust.
My guess it's a bad plug or coil pack? Your theory is greatly appreciated.

Told him he should have gotten Volvo's.:lol::lol:

Check his fuel pressure using the fuel Schrader valve up on the fuel rail. It should be within 42 psi.

If the fuel pressure is high then search online Mercruiser gen 3 cool fuel module paint chips. The regulator and regulator area of the top cap may need cleaning.

The spark plugs are very sensitive on these engine so it may (most likely) be time for new ones.

Oh and Volvo has their fuel system problems too.
