I've been riding for two seasons now, and have stalled a bit on my trick progression.
I can ride standard and goofy, 180*, 360*, and 540* spins with and without a handle pass are no problem now. I can ollie decently I think (1' or so off the water), and I can almost pull 180* spins off an ollie. Butterslides, both forwards and backwards (back to the boat is backwards right?) are also not a problem. I think I've gotten pretty decent in the two seasons I've been riding.
My problem comes as I start to want to implement kick-flips, and shuvits into my routine. Any time my feet come off the board, the board either goes rocketing off in front of me, or stops dead in the water, and I'm pulled forward onto my face without the board under me. Is there something I'm missing? I can get the board out of the water no problem, and I can rotate the board on the water no problem as long as I stay on top of it. Should I start trying to just rotate it under me before trying to pop it out of the water? Is there something else I should be trying to do?
I've got a buddy heading out on the lake with me next weekend to get some video of me riding. Hopefully, I can get some video of me attempting a shuvit to get some advice on how to add this to my list of abilities.
