Looks great Pauly:D I agree with EZ on the bow stripe, the line wants to keep going in my mind and it would look a bit sleeker possibly.

Wow...that fiberglass rig sure looks jealous of all the attention the aluminum boat(The Black Pearl?) is getting:D:D

I had the bow all black (where the white is now) and it looked odd to me to have the white stripes just stop on each side, so I continued the white to connect them.

Are you saying carry the stripes to meet at the seam, and paint the upper nose all black..or stop the stripes (port, starboard) and leave the whole nose black.

Nothing wrong with experimenting..I wish i could mess around with it on a computer tho..

Another alternative on the stripe would be to carry the white down in a sort of V at the bow. Sort of follow it down to the keel (at least to the water line.)

And man, great work. I just read through the entire thread.

Ya mean something like this? This is a 1969 fiberglass rig from another thread.

Ok..I used 5 1" sheets of pink and 1 2" sheet. Thats about all I could make fit without going too nuts with custom fitting. I may use some 2" on port/starboard on sides of hull (lower section). This may dampen the noise as well. heres a few pics of the floor install.

Have you thought about seats yet? I am hesitating to rivet the remaining parts of my deck because apparently, a backing plate or other anchor system should be used under pedestal seat bases to attach them securely. I'd rather do that now with regular bolts and fender washers than have to drill access holes later or use expensive toggle anchors. And my original plan to screw down seats is out the window. =s

I added plywood blocks in the general area under where my pedestals are going to go so I can just use lags.

My seating is already established, front of console seat and seat at helm which can seat 2 ppl (both girls or wife and 1). other than that straglers can ruff it on my no skid deck..:D

Yes they worked out well..with the exception of the ones that go into the ribs on the edges. The rib is thicker aluminum and altho the rivet bites..it is not enough to be permanent. I have had a few pop up after walking around the deck. I will use some stainless screws to address that area. They are fine for the stringers with no issue. These are pretty impressive rivets I cannot imagine going to a 1/4" that is way overboard in my opinion. Let me know how many youll need, I used no where near 100 for my deck.

Here is what I want to do. I will gain 10" in the back of the boat. Altho that doesn't sound like alot...it is!! Thats where my downriggers will be mounted one each side...and that 10" really allows some elbow room.
I dont see the need for such a HUGE splashwell. I would like a few opinions.

Ok, I was on the fence anyway about using the rivets. I had used deck screws on my Jupiter and they worked great. This was all I needed to be pushed fully in that direction. Rivets-shmivets :p

I think you could probably do that. The only issue I can think of...is the upper motor mount bolts I believe sit pretty close to the bottom of the splashwell. Your shortening of it looks like it may raise the well up to somewhere in the general area of smack in the middle of those bolts. That could be a pain. Also I assume you'll be able to bend new mounting "tabs" in it.

Re: Need Some Help On My 1960 or 1970 Something SS Resto!!!

Pauly and E I owe you guys an apology! I went back and looked at my restore thread and I used 3/16 rivits with a 1/2" to 5/8" grip range. The 1/4" rivits were mis ordered and returned. When you folks asked the question, I went to my file and pulled up the wrong receipts. Again, sorry!!!!!
