Need some help

I bought a old Jon Boat and it has an evinrude on it. It says its an Evinrude Big Twin Model 40353d serial e04557. Can anyone give me some info on it?

I have a gas leak from the section attached to the filter and when I took it apart the springs poped out and I need to figure out how it goes back together. Also the black material that is the same size and shape that was on the inside has a tear in it. Could that cause my leak?

Any help would be great.

Sounds like you are talking about the fuel pump. That thin rubber thing is the diaphragm. If it is torn, it is no good. They have repair kits here at iboats.

Are we 100% sure that is the right year and hp? The repair kits parts dont look the same as what i took out.

I will double check today and even take some pictures of the problem.
