Need some info please

Hi. I have a 88 85hp Bayliner.<br />Serial:856x7b<br />Model: 4940<br /><br />Ok now for the past few weeks my Tilt/Trim has decided to work off and on. I read all the threads I could find on this subject and have some questions. I traced the 2 wires coming off of T/T and they run straight to the switch (no relays) is this right? Also how do you check the fluid on the T/T and what fluid do you use? And last if I have to replace the T/T motor which one do I need? thank you very much and thanks for all the help you all have given me.

Ive got an 86 bayliner 85 hp and the relays are under the engine cover on the left side if your standing behind the boat. My T/T started acting up the third time I was going to take it out. It turned out it was one of the relays. the motor would go down fine but wouldnt go up and then it wouldnt go up only down.

That's what they look like on my 88 Bayliner. There are two of them on the left hand side closest to the transom.

Ok I looked all over the motor and did not find anything that resembled this? So can anyone give me anymore info? Anychance this one doesnt have relays? What T/T replaces the one on these? And what type of fluid do you use with them? Thanks

Your motor is an1987, notice the "7" in the serial number.<br /><br />I believe your trim motor is a 3-wire motor, not a two wire motor. If it is a 3-wire motor, then you also have a solenoid in the system.<br /><br />It could also be a faulty switch in the shifter handle.<br /><br />I would suggest you get a repair manual. the Clymers manual has all the wiring diagrams.

I can only find 2 wires coming out of the T/T and they run straight to the switch. I have replaced the switch. That was the 1st thing I did.And my bad on the year 88. Everything in my driveway is 88 or 89 except the boat.

To add to that I did pull the cap off yesterday and there was only 2 wires running in..
