Hi SGD,<br /> Actually, in the 1940s, Evinrude built a 5.4hp opposed four-cylinder! That's right! A whopping 5-point-4 horses! They also built 9.2, 9.7, 16.2, etc. up to 33.4hp opposed 4-cylinders, plus a monster racer called the 4-60 (four cylinders, 60-cubic inches).<br /> To answer your question, the 50hp V4 was built in 1958 and 1959.<br />- Scott
