Need some insight on fiberglass cracks

1998 Wellcraft.....24' ......please take a look at these cracks and tell me what you think! Are they a large concern...a symptom of a deeper problem?

yup. the spider web looking crack is just the gel coat cracking from possibily dropping something 0n it. the long line crack in the floor appears to be rotten decking and most likely stringers letting the deck sag from being soft.

The spider web cracking can occur in the best of boats; nothing too big to worry about. Without a frame of reference for the longitudinal cracks I'd only be guessing. Chapparel may be correct.

The spider cracks are from extreme stress. Cheap boats do that often. Yours isn't a cheap boat. Good boats get them when the owner(s) beat the crap out of it.

The linear cracks are structural - not to be ignored. Have a professional survey the boat.

Those pictures look like the cockpit decking ???

anyway, my input . . .

- Stress

- Water absorbtion into a core material

- Hard spot below deck

Those would be the things to consider and look into.

Check the depth of the cracks. See if they extend down to the cloth. Can you pull up the fiberglass deck? If so, you could repair the long cracks from behind. If you putty them from the top, they will simply crack again.
