Just picked up a "new" outboard, and realize I have no clue what I'm doing with the thing, coming from my I/O
Within hours of putting it in the water, the tide came and washed into the beached boat, submerging the battery but not the motor at all. Surprisingly, turned over no problems. Maybe not surprisingly, didn't start. Short story, got it started, but not before I fumbled around with the carb (carbs? I only saw one) in fairly inept fashion.
Some specific questions (elec start, remote controlled):
Starting procedure? Prime bulb, Lift fast idle lever, push in key to choke (I assume I hold the key in the whole time while starting, but the one manual I found doesn't say).
There's a "pull out to prime" lever on the motor that I can't find reference to. Seems like that squirts gas directly into the carb--does this supplement or replace the bulb on the fuel line?
"Partial tilt" setting? I can't seem to find a way to partly lift the engine out for shallow water. There's a hard to access latch that I need to engage to lift the motor, and then I need to lift it all the way. Don't know if there's something wrong with my unit, or that's just how it is.
Any links to service and user manuals for this thing? Can't seem to find them. And before anyone asks, the s/n is 80 miles away...
