Just picked up a "new" outboard, and realize I have no clue what I'm doing with the thing, coming from my I/O
Within hours of putting it in the water, the tide came and washed into the beached boat, submerging the battery but not the motor at all. Surprisingly, turned over no problems. Maybe not surprisingly, didn't start. Short story, got it started, but not before I fumbled around with the carb (carbs? I only saw one) in fairly inept fashion.

Some specific questions (elec start, remote controlled):
Starting procedure? Prime bulb, Lift fast idle lever, push in key to choke (I assume I hold the key in the whole time while starting, but the one manual I found doesn't say).
There's a "pull out to prime" lever on the motor that I can't find reference to. Seems like that squirts gas directly into the carb--does this supplement or replace the bulb on the fuel line?

"Partial tilt" setting? I can't seem to find a way to partly lift the engine out for shallow water. There's a hard to access latch that I need to engage to lift the motor, and then I need to lift it all the way. Don't know if there's something wrong with my unit, or that's just how it is.

Any links to service and user manuals for this thing? Can't seem to find them. And before anyone asks, the s/n is 80 miles away...

There are a few different manuals for the 2003 two stroke. Is yours a two or three cylinder?

Looked like 2, unless I missed a cylinder with the cowl off. Strange to have different #'s of cylinders; were some of them outsourced? I have an old merc branded tohatsu 2.2...

Got to be in forward gear to lift motor. and no the enricher/choke does not replace primer bulb

Well, it lifts fine in neutral (unless you're saying that that latch disengages by itself in forward? that would be clever...). So what's the point of the enricher?

Thanks. Seloc is a 4 letter word on the mercruiser side of the forums--are there no factory service manuals available? How about a user manual?

Well, I don't know how you determined right off the bat that the manual I am referring to is Seloc, but you better think again. Guess you don't need it and sorry I wasted my time.

Sorry, I didn't see anything but Seloc in the link you posted. I assumed the same from your pm. Didn't think I had an attitude about it or anything...

Whenever you type service manual, iBoats makes that into a link that points at the Seloc manuals that they sell. That's why i often stick in an extra space like this...service manual so it doesn't happen. Makes things very confusing.

Running a bit more. So indeed, the engine lifts up when in forward. The enrichment/primer makes starting much easier. This thing actually starts much easier than other outboards I've owned/used. I might get brave next week and try to pull start it.
1) I still can't find a partial tilt though; does this engine have one?
2) Still don't have a good basic owner's manual--does one exist? Service manual on boatinfo.no is good, but my motor has some differences, and it isn't downloadable.
3) How does the choke work? Do I have to push the key and hold it the whole time, or does pushing in the key momentarily set it?

Caught our first fish of the season on this rig; just a small cat, but the boy was pretty excited.
