well its time to replace the prop on my old 89 rinker 170.. it currently has a 19 pitch on it.. where is the best site to buy props from? im lookin on ebay, but none of the part numbers seem to match my stock prop or my stainless steel prop. also what model mercruisers are interchangable if possible?

the boat is a 1989 rinker 170v, has a 3.0 mercruiser inline 4. any other info ya need or pics of the props let me know.. sorry for the dumb posting but i wanna get this right the first time:p

The best place to buy a prop is right here on iBoats -- they sponsor the forum so why not pay them back. Enter the year, make and model of your engine and outdrive and go from there.

good sales pitch lol.. i plan on buying one from here though just didnt know how to find em, now heres another question, my boat has the option of a 3 blade, or 4 blade. and its only 10 bucks or so difference between em.. whats the gain/loss of a 4 blade as apposed to a 3 blade prop?

Generally a 4 blade improve low end performance better hole shot stays on plane at lower power.Better bite in corners.A little less top end.

cool. what im using the boat for is tubing, and skiing.. and im not worried about goin a million miles an hour.. i think il invest in a 4 blade for my main prop, and a 3 blade backup

you wont lose much speed but if that dont matter you'll love the 4 you'll need to drop down in pitch though with the 4 think its like 2-4 inches

Deetz, can you tell us how many RPM you are turning at WOT and what your speed is at those RPM, as well as what horsepower engine you have so I can come up with some conclusive numbers.

wish i could.. ive only owned this boat for 3 weeks.. and the one time i had it in the water.. i couldnt even make it out of the marina without the prop on it vibrating. hence why i need to buy a new one. all the info i know of on this boat is its a 89 170v rinker, with a 3.0 130 hp 181ci inline 4. with a 19pitch stainless steel prop, with enough damage on it it virbrates

You may be able to get the prop repaired.Your stainless will outperform most aluminum props and to replace with stainless is costly replacing with aluminum
is a step down and difficult to figure your results.
