New to the forum and this is my first boat so bear with me...

I have a 1971 starcraft jupiter that was given to me by my father in law that he bought in 1972. My wife grew up on the boat and I just have to keep it and restore it. The transom and floor is rotten and he just cant fix it. In 1999 he bought a brand new mercury 80 hp and had it installed...very low time motor electric trim and all!

Anyway, I got the motor off and the transom out, and the new one cut. The boat is missing one of the top end caps that covers were the transom meets the side of the boat. the one that is missing is on the left side if you are standing behind the boat and looking at the motor. Also the long skinny top cap that covers the transom all along the splashwell is there but has a stress slit in it from where the motor was mounted...Anybody have any idea where I can find these???

On a side not I have having problems getting the interior side panels off to pull the floor up and recover in vinyl, I was hoping some of you that have done this before know a trick!

Thanks in advance I will try to get some pics posted.....super excited should be a lot of fun for my wife and our 2 young daughters....who knows maybe the father in law will get go back out in his boat fishing...he has had it in the barn for 7 or 8 years. Thanks for any help.

Re: Need Starcraft parts for my new prize!

Welcome Cheifer, the transom stern caps are difficult to locate. Some guys find them on EBay. Check out the threads and you will find a few leads to check out. There are threads in the Restoration section North Beach started you should check too. EZ did a resto on a Jupiter as well as other and that may tell you how to remove/install the floor. Grab a liquid refreshment, sit down at the computer, and read. Everyone will help and you will be amazed at the information already available. Good Luck, Dale
And yes, pics are a requirement here:D

Yes the transom caps are real tough to find. So much so that after reading of a bunch of people on here not being able to find them, I went out, took mine off, and reinstalled them with 3M 5200 and screws so there's be no way I'd lose them. If your long transom cap strip is at all usable, just use it. Mine for my Jupiter was pretty beat also but it looked OK when reinstalled. Someone on here was somehow able to pound out a new one from aluminum stock but I have no idea how he did it. Your side panels should be pretty easy to remove. Screws in the floor, in the little shelf/ledge thing on the side and at the top. There's a link to my Jupiter project in my signature below. Welcome to the forum and the Starmada.

There's a guy that posted on craiglist in central NY(Syracuse I think) that has a bunch of Starcraft parts for sale. He's got trim pieces and corner caps, so I'd try to track down his ad.
