how do i adjust the idle speed on my merc 150 xr-6? right now i idle at 3.2 mph which is to fast for trolling. i'd like to get it down to 1.5-2 mph.
That's a pretty big trolling motor.
The idle set screw is the lowest one on the throttle arm, facing aft. It has a locknut on it.
There's a module on that engine that advances the idle timing if it falls below a certain rpm, I believe 600. You may have to disconnect that. If you do, the same module is responsible for the last few degrees advance, so you'll have to do a complete link n sync if you want WOT performance, but at specs for an engine without the module.
Best bet would be to get a kicker to troll with.
