need to get boat going!!!!

just took my 71 chrysler out today and it ran great at 1/8 on the gas but as soon as you let it ideal it wants to die...then to get it going you have to hold it wide open then starts.but at full it runs great.what do you guys think!!! o ya the cap had green on electrods...put new one on today have not ran it yet..think maybe spark is it....

It Sounds like the Low Speed Circuits of the Carb might be Plugged.....

You probably need a full tuneup, points, condenser, rotor, spark plugs. Not just a green cap.
And make sure you set everything too. Dwell, timing. Then after you get your carb cleaned out, readjust the mixture and idle speed.
