I recently purchased a used 1986 19' Thundercraft. It has an I/O motor.

I live on a canal and I need to find an economical way to get this boat out of the water.

Most of the lifts I see are in the $5,000 range. I paid almost half that for the boat.

I really would like to find something that isn't going to cost me the same price as the boat.

Any thoughts and/or suggestions on how to get my motor out of the water?

Craigslist and find a lift for $1500 or so.

Another option is a trailer, but probably not a lot cheaper, and more work in the end.

They might sell inflatable lift type items for smaller boats?

Paint the bottom. A whole lot easier and cheaper than a lift

Make your own lift.

I hate lifts.
Aluminum lifts are mega bux, and steel lifts are mega heavy.

I found a used marine railway locally on kijiji. That stuff is a fortune new, and peanuts used.

I love my railway. Boat stays on it over the winter. cant do that with a lift.

thinking about going to get this other one...same brand as what I have
