need to know what engine is in my OMC

Hi, all

I would like to start by saying that there is a lot of good information on this site and a lot of helpful people and I hope that I can be helped(some would say I am beyond help). I have all the info about the boat as follows

Engine Model: 990243S1
Engine Serial: 639973
PL : 981871
W: 191002
Carburator : 17059056

what I cant find is the engine that is in it ford, GM not sure, why I ask is because I need to find a fuel pump for it and I dont want to have to spend the 180 Canadian for a new one. if I knew the engine i might be able to find a used one. Any help would be great thanks

First, welcome to iboats! This is a great site with lots of really experienced and helpful people. Where are you from? (BC here, eh. )

To the engine, is the distributor at the front (ford) or the back (chev)? Is it a 4, 6, or 8 cyl? Do you know the horsepower of your drive? It should be on one of the valve covers.

Make sure that, wherever you get your pump from, that it is a marine pump. Automotive parts + boats = BOOM! We'd like you to stick around for a while.
