I'm close to purchasing a project boat, with a 3.0 Volvo Penta Sterndrive. It's been parked for a few years but was running great last time out. The seller says it's an electric shift....how does that system work? I can't find info on Volvo/w/electric shift, only OMC.
Besides sterndrive issues, does this engine have any known weaknesses? It's got only 440 hours on it since new in 2000.
Also, the boat is 22 ft long, weighs 2200 lbs, and the seller claims it will run 55 mph on smooth water- sounds way to good to be true. What can I really expect for a top speed?
BTW the boat manufacturer/model is "Playtime by Ohio Marine 2200 FISH & SKI/DB", and the seller claims it's about the same hull as a Mastercraft.
