I was talking to dad cause about 4 years ago, he was the one dealing with it. The guy doing the work on the motor said "he was gonna make it faster" and DID put bigger jets. We assume it has 150 jetting and overloads. I am thinking this is where im at right now.

Bigger jets, if it was done, doesn't make a 115 into a 150, but only would use more fuel. More HP is a little more involved than larger jets.

.... That was out of our hands... We just wanted the carb issue fixed at that time, and he did what he did. I didn't know anything then but if I knew what he was doing, I wouldn't of let him do that.:mad:

I guess Ill just put this thread on hold until I have it out on the water tuesday that was I can give exact details as far as what it is doing. Ive done alittle bit of work to it and it does sound much better but idk till it hits water. Ill keep you all updated.

UPDATE:


Ok heres the scoop... New plugs, seafoam, and cleaned all wire terminals on wires.
Got it out today, Primed the bulb, hit the key, started right up. let it sit and idle for about 5 minutes while I parked the truck/trailer. Came back to it, still sounds awesome (keep in mind there is still seafoam in the lines cause smoke was white). Made my way about 5mph out of the channel from the marina and got to the main channel. Hit the gas and OMG, the boat has never took off like it has like it did today. Ran about 38mph down the river and about 10 minutes and almost to the gulf, the motor started slowing and slowing down to about 24mph. Made me go Ahhhh not again. Stopped. Revved it up, put it back in gear and tried to get on a plane. Would not plane off. I tried priming the bulb, and hitting the choke, neither made enough of a difference to matter.

Its almost like the motor quit running as well as it did when all the seafoam ran out of it...:confused:


Fouled carbs??? May try cleaning them tomorrow morning.

Gee, I think a spark test when the speed drops is in order. Also, inspect all plugs at that time as well to see if any are fould with water or fuel. Spark test first, then pull the plugs....

Well I pulled the carbs, Took them apart, cleaned them out (not really dirty at all but there were little stuff in the holes and what not the air compressor shot out. then I put them back on and started it up. Then I came to realize gas was dripping out of the bottom carb hose. So I took the bottom carb back off and realized that nipple was broken. got me some fuel resistant gasket sealer and put it around that and clamped it back on for awhile. Put carb back on and took it over to the boat ramp.

Ran AWESOME.... Well for the 20 minutes I had it out there. I'm about to go back out and run it around some more and see what other little issues I can find.

you are going about this as haphazardly as can be it seems..

Ok so if it ran good then went south after it got hot(not hot as in overheat) it IS the ignition components. Which one, hard to say. Mine was the Stator. boat ran good for about 10 minutes at 3/4 throttle then just died, ignition cut out. Replaced Stator a few months ago and boat has never run better. If youve checked all and cleaned carbs, must be ignition
